RUBICS v1.0.0 “Star” has arrived

Hello friends! I’m happy to announce that RUBICS version ONE is finished!

For those of you who have been following my personal journey, this does in-fact mean that my Masters Dissertation is complete, where I used RUBICS to undertake a CBA of the proposal to raise Warragamba Dam to mitigate against flooding in Western Sydney. What a relief.

But now, I get to release the ‘feature complete’ version that I used in that endeavour, here’s what’s new:

  • User defined functions that enable the user to impute non-linear functions from a series of x and y points, using a number of imputation functions from sci-py including nearest, previous, next, linear, cubic spline, akima, and smoothed cubic spline.
  • Ability to download new CPI and exchange rate data from the WorldBank API.
  • Bug catching so that RUBICS doesn’t crash if you make a mistake or typo entering information into the UI.

While RUBICS: Star is just about done, I can’t guarantee that it is 100% stable – but I hope everybody who is interested nonetheless finds it useful. And I’m not done with it yet – I still have ideas for future features that can take it to the next level!

Let me know what you think, or if you find any issues at info@econrubics.com

Your friendly neighbourhood economist,

Sam
