After getting some initial feedback regarding the release of the RUBICS BETA code from interested economists, it has become apparent that some of those who are interested in trying the program for themselves may not have the background necessary to run it from python script. Therefore, I have compiled the code into an executable (.exe) file and made it available to download from the home page.
Users should be warned that the program is still in BETA, and the compiled .exe version of the release has not been thoroughly tested for stability. In addition some antivirus software may try to quarantine the file since to it it looks like you’re running a strange file downloaded from the internet. My own computer runs Avast and this happens to me, but all that I need to do is make an exception for the file and it runs smoothly. Other computers don’t have any issue with it, so it seems like a case-by-case issue.
However, that said anyone willing to give it a spin is more than welcome, and I would encourage anybody encountering bugs or unexpected crashes to report them to info@econrubics.com and help to evolve the program for the better.
Over the next few weeks I will be releasing some more detailed exhibits and video demonstrations of RUBICS to help bring this project further to life.
Staying tuned with the simulation,
Sam
